Agra, located in northern India, is well-connected by various modes of transportation. Depending on your starting point, you can choose from several convenient options:

By Air:
  • The closest major airport to Agra is Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in New Delhi, approximately 220 kilometres away.
  • Although there are NO direct flights from Delhi to Agra, the city can be accessed via nonstop flights from Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Lucknow.
  • Other international airports near Agra, include Jaipur (240 km) and Lucknow (330 km).
  • Numerous local and intercity cab services operate from Indira Gandhi International Airport to Agra.


By Train:
  • Agra lies on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Chennai railway routes and is well-connected to major cities across India. Regular trains run from cities such as Delhi, Jaipur, Gwalior, and Jhansi, as well as from Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai.
  • The primary railway station in Agra is Agra Cantt (AGC), which is conveniently located approximately 8 km from the Taj Hotel and Convention Centre. Other stations include Agra Fort, Raja ki Mandi, Agra City, and Idgah.

  • Hazrat Nizamuddin Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express (train no 22470) from Hazrat Nizamuddin station

By Car:
  • Agra is accessible from Delhi via the NH2 and the new Yamuna Expressway, with a travel time of approximately 4-5 hours, subject to traffic conditions.
    • The city is also connected to
    Jaipur (4-hour drive via NH11),
    Gwalior (1.5-hour drive via NH3), and
    Lucknow/Kanpur (4-5 hour drive via the Agra-Lucknow Expressway/NH2).


By Bus:
  • Though less preferred, Agra is connected by daily buses from Delhi, Jaipur, Gwalior, Lucknow, and Kanpur. The city's main bus terminals are Idgah Bus Stand (8 km from the Taj Mahal) and ISBT (12 km from the Taj Mahal).
